from the press kit (and hey, i'm on the board so this is like totally gratuitous promotion):
www.ce.canberra.edu.au/inflect. infLect is based at the University of Canberra Centre for Writing. The journal showcases creative work which brings together text, visual images and sound into a reciprocal relationship, and also writing which combines critical and creative content. Volume One contains new work by Jim Andrews, geniwate, komninos, Ana Marie Uribe, Jason Nelson, Thomas Swiss, Motomichi Nakamura and Robot Friend, Hazel Smith and Roger Dean, and Brian Kim Stefans.

a new subscription only journal sponsored by eastgate, edited by anja rau. i took out a charter subscription, so i imagine my name will one day be immortalised in pixels on an archive screen somewhere. if it lives up to its brief it will be good, but being subscription based is brave. will be an interesting test of a business model.

figaro is a european electronic publishing initiative. it is orientated towards the scientific community but that's because the scientific community probably has quite a different approach to publishing than the humanities. it is a federated project about facilitating access and publication, which is an excellent model. if it works ok would be interested in using something like this to future possible nicn publications.

an australian (melbourne, the home of all real culture) based web site that combines informed commentary, reviews, and criticism, with a dash of academic writing. an exemplary web site that is a good illustration of what electronic publishing by people familiar with a content area can achieve.

Currents in Electronic Literacy, a hypertext and pedagogy journal published online via the Computers and Writing Research Lab in Texas. Usually publishes stuff from the U.S. computers and writing community but seems to be wanting to broaden its range and also to explore some alternative academic genres. Sticklers for grammar - my loose writing has been mauled by their editors for some time :-)
[Mon 1 Oct 2001]

[Wed 26 Sep 2001]
new journal out of purdue which is about networked writing. part of the largely us 'computers and writing' crowd, sort of rhetoric and advanced literacy teachers where such programs are more or less compulsory in us universities. victor vitanza leads off in their first issue (sept 2001) and he is a marvel to read, and hear.
